Alona is from the village of Gunduzqala in the region of Qusar. She is part of the Lezgi people group.
Alona has three sons. She works as a teacher in her village and knits in her free time. She put her oldest son in school in a nearby city to get a better education and knits to pay for transportation for him each day.
