Gunay is from the village of Sumagali in the region of Ismayili. She is part of the Lezgi people group. She recently learned how to knit from her neighbor. She has become a master at making our Smittens. She has two older children and has been knitting to send them to tutors so they can enter the university. She tells her family that knitting is her full time job and they are only allowed to bother her on her set work breaks during the day. But she enjoys being able to be close to her kids and work from home.
