Esmira

Esmira is the youngest of five sisters. She grew up in the picturesque village of Istisu (meaning hot water). Her village is nestled in the mountains and is framed by two rivers that have natural hot springs in them. The rugged beauty of Istisu makes it a desirable tourist destination, but, when Esmira was growing up, it was just home. A place where her father took care of cows, sheep and goats. Where her mom kept chickens and a lush garden. Where she learned how to knit from her sisters during the boring, cold winter days. They loved to create fun knitted items to outfit themselves for the cold weather.

Since the days of her childhood, Esmira has married and has two children. A couple of years ago, her family moved from the village into the nearby city of Ismayili so that her daughter could go to university. With increased costs of living due to renting a house and living in the city, Esmira needed another source of income. She was very grateful to get connected to Azerbaijani Socks. She started off knitting socks, but due to her quick, skillful work, Teresa reassigned her to knitting mini sweater ornaments. These ornaments are challenging because of the fine detail that is needed. She has risen to that challenge and is doing a beautiful job.

I purchased one of your mini sweaters. Your work is beautiful and I love being able to support your ministry. May the Lord bless the works of your hands that you may receive more that you could ask or imagine for the work you are doing. Bless you~
