Camilla lived in Dagestan in the village of Mishlesh. She came to Mamrux as a bride. Her husband was the Mullah or Imam of the local mosque. She has four children, three girls, one boy. Her husband died many years ago. Her son moved to Russia for work, but faced troubles there and has been in jail since he was twenty-two years old. This has caused Camilla great sorrow. Her daughters have married and do not live in this village, so she lives alone. It is lonely for her, but she loves her many cats and is happy to spend quiet evenings knitting. She is now seventy years old. She loves to knit items for her grandchildren as well, but she has slowed down in the amount that she can knit because of arthritis in her hands and a sickness that greatly affected her a couple of years ago.
