Necabet was born and raised in the village of Mamrux in the region of Zaqatala. Necabet’s sixty-five years of life have been filled with hardship and toil. She speaks of the abuse that she received at the hand of her father and then her husband. She became a widow at a young age and chose not to remarry. She raised two children on her own, struggling to provide for them through many hard years. Her daughter is married and lives in a village near to Necabet. Her son married and then moved to Ukraine. He later abandoned his family, leaving Necabet to raise his three daughters on her own. Due to many physical ailments, Necabet is very limited in the work that she is able to do. She is grateful that she knows how to knit and that through her knitting and a small pension she receives from the government, she is able to meet the basic needs of herself and her granddaughters. Without this work, she does not know what she would do.
